Beng Mealea, Cambodia

This was taken in the early afternoon. the light was quite harsh so I adjusted the levels in Photoshop.

This is one of the least restored temples that still receives a relatively large number of visitors. I'm still amazed by the fact that you can go anywhere in these places. There are not areas that are off-limits.
Walking around this temple is a bit of work - climbing up and over and through. But there is a real sense of it being part of the jungle.

The complex itself is actually huge, encompassing grounds and a moat. But this has all been reclaimed by the jungle. As you walk around you can faintly make out earthworks that were the moat or walk way.
