I've got a little time on my hands these days so I'm going through some old photos and reworking them. Much of what I am interested in right now is working with black and white and pushing and pulling images to get the composition that I want. I divided this image into three zones, the sky, the waves and the sand, and then adjusted the exposure for each zone to bring out the highlights. I suppose this is similar working in HDR, but this seemed simpler and allowed more control over parts of the image.
This beach 'was' one of the nicest on the island until the tour companies and hotels stepped in and over-ran it with garbage, plastic chairs, and too many tourists.
I would be interested to hear what anyone has to say.

Very dramatic composition! Excellent choice of b&w.

I think its very well processed for a start. The image itself is well composed and the waves themselves are very well captured. Your processing choices have really come off.

Cool technique - I think it worked quite well for you. Adding a new look to an old shot can be fun.

Drama mate Drama!!!! It's great...I like that you didn't use HDR on this as you've managed to bring out truely what we would see with our own eyes...minus the black and white that is. The composition and contrast of tones works in every which way on this photo. Fantastic job mate...no critique from me!!
