Grandmother's HandsPosted by Aidan Hammond (Seoul, South Korea) on 22 February 2007 in People & Portrait and Portfolio. This is the first personal photo in this series of hands. These are the hands of Yun Jeong's grandmother - she's 84 years old. When getting ready to pose, she clasped her hands like this. She told us that this was the 'proper' way to pose. During the Japanese occupation of Korea in the first half of the 20th century, her teacher at school was Japanese. Her teacher told the students to always pose like this because it made the hands look smaller - and thus more beautiful. Since then, she has posed for every picture like this, with her hands clasped together.
