Andong Tree, Andong Village, Korea

Posted by Aidan Hammond (Seoul, South Korea) on 2 September 2007 in Architecture and Portfolio.

It's been too long since I posted something here. But life has finally slowed down briefly and I can now work through a backlog of things.
This photo was taken at Andong Folk Village in Korea. The village has wonderful buildings built in the traditional style. Many of these buildings are still inhabited, and most are restaurants, mini-hotels (minbak) or temples. It's a really interesting place to visit and to see how life was in Korea.
This is the gate to one of the temples. I've always been fascinated with the intricate joinery of the woodwork in Korean temples and traditional buildings.
