Temple Roofs, San Gae Sa Temple, Korea
Posted by Aidan Hammond (Seoul, South Korea) on 7 September 2007 in Architecture and Portfolio.
After climbing up the mountain, making our way through the temple complex, we were rewarded with this view back across the valley.
One of the things that I find so attractive about Korean temples is that there are so many facets and layers of surfaces. One rarely is looking at just a wall; there is often an over-hanging roof from a nearby building obscuring a portion of the wall, or another wall is branching off. I find this layering of surfaces really attractive.
